How to get there

1 - By plane from San Jose to Colon Island

By flying, you safe lots of time and you have beautiful views ( if sitting by the window ) of Costa Rica`s jugles, countryside and beaches. You do miss a lot of seightseing you have when taking the ground transportation option.

2 - Ground transportation

There are 3 ways to get to Bocas from Costa Rica. By land from the Costa Rica South Caribbean Coats until reaching Sixaola, a small border town. There, once crossing the border after a 1 hour immigration process, continuing until the largest city of the Bocas del Toro province, Changuinola. From the by land to Finca 60, an active banana plantation and processing complex. There, the trip continues by boat through exotic jungle canals until open sea and to the largest island of Bocas Isla Colon or directly to Isla Bastimentos, Isla Solarte or another island. There also is a way from Sixaola to Almirante and from there by boat to Bocas. However, the boat ride through the canals very adventurous and beautiful so we recommend the way through Changuinola.
