Hotel Pargo Rojo

PARGO ROJO is situated on Isla Carenero, 200 meters across from the main island of Isla Colón. Isla Carenero is the smallest of the 9 islands that incorporate the Archipielago of Bocas Del Toro. This is the same island that Christhopher Columbus used to repair his boat on his 4th trip to America.

This beautiful, laid back island with its many coves and lagoons offers white beaches with clear water and good waves for surfing. It is inhabited by Guamyes Indians, with a population of no larger than 350 people, can be walked in under two hours, is only a two minute boat ride to the main island or a ten minutes swim across.

The Rooms

PARGO ROJO is fashioned in a style typical of the residences of the Guaymies Indians with an open air concept, built in rustic wood and thatched roof right on the water on an 800 sq meters platform. It affords guests the full pleasures of the ocean and its marine life. 

Pargo Rojo has two cabins with lofts that can accomodate up to 5 people and 3 large rooms with occupancy of up to 7 or 8 people. All of the rooms have private bathrooms, hot showers and fans.

We also offer use of cayucos (tipical indian canoe made of wood) completly free for the guests. They can be used to cross over to Colón Island, go fishing or just to cruise around.

Restaurant and Bar

Enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of the rustic style bar with its stools, bamboo motifs and white cane. As the bar is built around the open air kitchen you can relax with tropical cocktails with friend as you watch the preparation of the evening's meals.

The restaurant offers an international menu with an emphasis on seafood. Upon request, it offers excellent Middle Eastern dishes. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinners which can be enjoyed during a beautiful sunset from its terrace over the ocean. 

Pargo Rojo also offers its guests Internet services.

Tours

Our tours include Boca Torito or Dolphin Bay, where dolphins are abound in crystal clear waters. 
We also visit Coral Key a location where one may enjoy spectacular snorkelling and feast on fresh lobster and other seafood. 

The Zapatillas, a short ride from Coral Key and part of the national Marine Park are two islands which are totally untouched and offer long deserted beaches, palm trees, clear water and absolute relaxation. 

Bastimentos, this island is very popular for its beautiful beaches and the famous Red frogs which can be seen while walking the jungle trails. 

Bird Island, a spectacular rock formation with crystal clear waters, offers small beaches and excellent snorkelling. One can enjoy swimming or simply marvel at this one of a kind bird sanctuary.

We also have the Boquete connection for those who may want to continue on to Panama's "little Switzerland", as it is often called. This city set in the mountains was voted by the New York Times as one of the best places to live in the world for its climate, beauty and lack of pollution. 

For those who are not interested in tours or such activities, the hotel offers Kayukos with paddles, at no extra charge and swimming off the deck..

Sport fishing is also available from this island and for those who like to surf, the waves are a short walk away.
